The hazards of chemicals which are involved in the manufacturing process

HAZARDS

Silver

Blackish pigmentation
1. If CD's and DVDs are disposed in aquatic environment: toxicity of Silver compounds to aquatic species may sometimes cause death.
2. It causes cancer and brain damage.
3. And may cause irritation in skin, throat and eyes for allergic people.

4. Silver compounds can be slowly absorbed by body tissues and results to blackish pigmentation.

Poly carbonate

1    1.  There is a basic chemical compound in poly carbonate called as bisphenol (BPA)

Fibroid cancer

2    2.   If this BPA leaches from the poly carbonate which is in our CD's, through water or food, it can surely harm us in many ways.

      3.    It can develop abnormality in our reproductive system and leads to birth defects and sometimes leads to cysts and fibroid cancer.

Aluminium

Dyspnea
1.While handling with aluminium in manufacturing process of CD's , workers over there will surely get irritation of throat or continuous dry coughing, increases phlegm production.(thick viscous substance secreted by the mucous membrane)

       2. It results in increase in aluminium dust concentration in the environment. By inhaling these aluminium dust they may also get lung defects like asthma, dyspnea etc.

Acrylic

1.  When acrylic compounds gets in contact with the skin, allergic reactions may be caused.

Cyanide

1. Cyanide is harmful to human beings and wild life if it enters the blood streams. It  may also be fatal.

      2.  Hydrogen cyanide causes death in one min.

Nickel

Nose cancer

1   1. Nickel induced toxicity can lead to tissue damage in eyes.

     2. Irritation of skin and eye.

3   3. Inflammation of lungs.

4   4. And there are chances for lung and nose cancer.

Indium

1.  It can be toxic to kidney and additionally to heart, and may be teratogenic.( relating to substances or agents that can interfere with normal embryonic development)

Tellurium
Teratogenic

1.  They are also teratogenic and even small amount of usage causes dreadful smelling breathe in mainly manufacturing areas.

2. Irritates eye and respiratory tract and causes damage for central nervous system.

Antimony

1. It leads to non-significant differences in tissue concentrations in the liver and kidneys.

2    2.  A strong irritating effect on the gastrointestinal mucous and trigger sustained vomiting.

3    3. The other effects are diarrhea, cardiac toxicity and abdominal cramps.
